It always shocks me the amount of BS people will put up with to get a (smaller) guaranteed check. Yes, going back into car sales means no more weekly salary check, but it means the potential for so much more. And I believe in myself enough to know that I will come out ahead of the game whenever I bet on me.

I seem to recall some posts a while back about how happy you were to get OUT OF the sales role, so I can understand someone saying don’t do it, maybe even using your own words. But I also recall you writing that the new job wasn’t what you expected.

“Yes! Do it!” and “Always bet on you!” — there you go, just to even things out. For some people salary is the way to go and they just can’t risk it. Sometimes, the fear of failure is more the reason than actual risk tho. Make your own choices! :)

If you’re in a job you do well at, the environmental factors can still conspire to make you think you hate the job. When boiled down to my simplest elements, one of those elements is a salesman. I really should have just taken two weeks off and waited for the inevitable management change before I came to the decision to leave the last dealer I worked at.

And yes, getting a 9-5 didn’t fix everything. It came with its own headaches and ultimately isn’t the right fit for me. In this situation, you can only make so much, so people tend to work down to their paycheck instead of up to their potential. I’m not wired to be able to “phone it in” as it were, so I end up working far beyond my compensation and taking on headaches that aren’t my responsibility in the first place.

I have a ton of bills, but I also know I’m worth more than just what those add up to. I’ve always felt that in the right dealership, car sales is the ultimate get out of it what you put into it job.

Get beat down long enough by not being compensated for what you're worth and eventually you'll find a way to work down to that paycheck.

I just prefer to find someone who will pay me. I first went into sales because I don’t like other people deciding what my time is worth. And if someone doesn’t value me, I’m not going to stick around. That simple.
